Bias and the Law of Averages

When the Devils skated out, Emrick says something to the effect of "It's been 70 years since a team in the Final has come back from down 3-0 to win. Does the law of averages mean the Devils will?"


Then when the Kings were skating out he says, "No one has ever started the playoffs 10-0 before the Kings. Does the law of averages mean it's time for them to lose?"

Are you fucking kidding me? Hmm, who is Emrick cheering for?

If you really wanted to play the stupid law of averages thing, why not at least do it evenly? "The LA Kings have been playing hockey for 45 years and have never won the Stanley Cup. Does the law of averages mean it's their turn?"
